Ὅτι ἐὰν καὶ νῶτα γῆς, ὥσπερ καὶ θαλάσσης, οἱ ῥήτορες λέγουσι, δηλοῦντες τὴν αὐτῆς ἐπιφάνειαν, ἀλλ' αὖθίς ποτε καὶ ὑπτίαν αὐτὴν κεῖσθαί φασιν, ὅτε περὶ πεδιάδων λέγουσι. Δῆλον δὲ ὅτι καὶ λαγόνας γῆς καὶ κενεῶνάς φασιν, ὅτε μὴ τὸ φαινόμενον αὐτῆς ἀλλὰ καὶ τὸ ἐν βάθει δηλῶσαι βούλονται.
