Τετμήσθω οὖν ἡ ὑπὸ ΖΕΓ δίχα τῇ ΕΗ· ἔστιν ἄρα ὡς ἡ ΖΕ πρὸς ΕΓ, ἡ ΖΗ πρὸς ΗΓ, διὰ τὸ τρίτον θεώρημα τοῦ ἕκτου βιβλίου τῆς Εὐκλείδου Στοιχειώσεως. Καὶ συνθέντι ὡς συναμφότερος ἡ ΖΕ, ΕΓ πρὸς ΕΓ, ἡ ΖΓ πρὸς ΓΗ, καὶ ἐναλλὰξ ὡς συναμφότερος ἡ ΖΕ, ΕΓ πρὸς ΖΓ, ἡ ΕΓ πρὸς ΓΗ. Συναμφότερος δὲ ἡ ΕΖ, ΕΓ μείζων ἐστὶν ἤπερ φοα· ἡ μὲν γὰρ ΖΕ ὑπόκειται τϚ, ἡ δὲ ΕΓ σξε καὶ ἔτι μορίου τινός· ὥστε μείζονές εἰσι τῶν φοᾱ, Ἡ δὲ ΖΓ ἐστὶν ρνγ· συναμφότερος ἄρα ἡ ΖΕ, ΕΓ πρὸς ΖΓ μείζονα λόγον ἔχει ἤπερ φοᾱ πρὸς ρνγ· ὥστε καὶ ἡ EΓ πρὸς ΗΓ μείζονα λόγον ἔχει ἤπερ φοᾱ πρὸς ρνγ.
