Ἡ ΕΖ ἄρα πρὸς ΖΓ λόγον ἔχει, ὃν τϚ πρὸς ρνγ | Ὅτι διπλῆ ἐστιν ἡ ΕΖ τῆς ΖΓ, δῆλον ἐντεῦθεν· ἐὰν γὰρ προσεκβαλόντες τὴν ΖΓ ἐπὶ τὸ Γ καὶ ἴσην αὐτῇ ἀποθέμενοι ἐπιζεύξωμεν ἀπὸ τοῦ Ε, συσταθήσεται ἡ πρὸς τῷ Ε γωνία διμοίρου ὀρθῆς. Ἔστιν δὲ καὶ ἡ πρὸς τῷ Ζ διμοίρου· ἰσοπλεύρου ἄρα τριγώνου ἥμισύ ἐστι τὸ ΓΕΖ, καὶ διὰ τὸ τὴν βάσιν τοῦ ἰσοπλεύρου ἴσην οὖσαν τῇ ΕΖ δίχα τέμνεσθαι κατὰ τὸ Γ διπλῆ ἐστιν ἡ ΕΖ τῆς ΖΓ.
