Ἡ ΕΚ ἄρα πρὸς τὴν ΓΚ μείζονα λόγον ἔχει ἢ ὃν βτλθ δ΄ πρὸς ρνγ | Πάλιν γάρ, ἐπεὶ ὑπόκειται ἡ μὲν ΕΓ βτλδ δ΄, ἡ δὲ ΓΚ ρνγ, ἔσται τὸ μὲν ἀπὸ ΕΓ Μ ηψκγ ιϚ΄, τὸ δὲ ἀπὸ ΓΚ Μ γυθ. Τούτοις δὲ ἴσον ἐστὶ τὸ ἀπὸ ΚΕ· ἔσται ἄρα Μ βρλβ ιϚ΄, ὧν πλευρὰ τετραγωνικὴ ἔγγιστα βτλθ δ΄· λείπει γὰρ τὸ ἀπʼ αὐτῆς τοῦ ἀκριβοῦς μ μᾱ L΄. Οἱ δὲ πολλαπλασιασμοὶ ὑπόκεινται·
