[θ΄. Περὶ βολβοῦ ἡμέρου.] Βολβὸς ἐσθιόμενος μὲν ψυχρότερός τ’ ἐστὶ καὶ παχύτερος καὶ γλίσχρου χυμοῦ γεννητικός. καὶ γὰρ δύσπεπτός τ’ ἐστὶ καὶ φυσώδης καὶ ἀφροδισιαστικός. ἐπιπλαττόμενός γε διὰ τὸ πικρότητός τε ἅμα καὶ στύψεως μετέχειν, στυπτικός τε καὶ κολλητικὸς γίνεται καὶ δηλονότι ξηραντικός. ἐδείχθη γὰρ ὡς ἡ μὲν πικρότης ἐν ταῖς ῥυπτικαῖς οὐσίαις ἐστὶν, ἡ δὲ στύψις ἐν ταῖς κολλητικαῖς, ἡ δὲ ξηρότης ἀμφοτέραις ἠκολούθηκεν.
