[θ΄. Περὶ ἐλλεβόρου.] Ἐλλέβορος ἑκάτερος, ὅ τε λευκὸς καὶ ὁ μέλας, ῥυπτικῆς τε ἅμα καὶ θερμαντικῆς εἰσι δυνάμεως. διὸ καὶ πρὸς ἀλφοὺς καὶ λειχῆνας καὶ ψώρας καὶ λέπρας ἁρμόττουσι, καὶ μὲν δὴ καὶ εἰς σύριγγα τετυλωμένην ὁ μέλας, καθιέμενος ἐν δύο που καὶ τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἀφίστησιν αὐτῆς τὸν τύλον, καὶ ὀδόντας δὲ σὺν ὄξει διακλυζόμενος ὀνίνησι. καὶ κείσθωσαν ἐν τῇ τρίτῃ τάξει τῶν θερμαινόντων τε καὶ ξηραινόντων. ἔστι δὲ τῇ γεύσει θερμότερος μὲν ὁ μέλας, ὑπόπικρος δὲ ὁ λευκός.
