[ε΄. Περὶ ῥόδου.] Ῥόδων ἡ δύναμις ἐν τοῖς ἔμπροσθεν εἴρηται διὰ πλειόνων, ὡς ἐξ ὑδατώδους οὐσίας θερμῆς ἀναμεμιγμένης δύο ποιότησιν ἑτέραις, τῇ τε στυφούσῃ καὶ τῇ πικρᾷ, σύγκειται. καὶ μὲν δὴ καὶ ὁποία τις ἑκατέρα τὴν φύσιν ἐστὶν, ἥ τε πικρὰ καὶ ἡ στύφουσα, λέλεκταί μοι κατὰ τὸ τέταρτον τῶνδε τῶν ὑπομνημάτων. τὸ δὲ ἄνθος αὐτῶν ἔτι καὶ μᾶλλον αὐτῶν τῶν ῥόδων στυπτικόν ἐστι καὶ δηλονότι διὰ τοῦτο ξηραντικόν.
