[ιστ΄. Περὶ λίθων τῶν ἐν τοῖς σπόγγοις.] Εἰσὶ δὲ καὶ οἱ ἐν τοῖς σπόγγοις εὑρισκόμενοι λίθοι θρυπτικῆς δυνάμεως, οὐ μὴν οὕτως ἰσχυρᾶς ὥστε τοὺς ἐν τῇ κύστει λίθους θρύπτειν, ἀλλ’ οἱ τοῦτο γράψαντες ἐψεύσαντο, τοὺς δ’ ἐν νεφροῖς ὄντας θρύπτουσιν, ὥσπερ καὶ οἱ ἐκ τῆς Καππαδόκης, οὓς ἐν τῷ Ἀργαίῳ φασὶ γεννᾶσθαι. λύονται δ’ εἰς χυλὸν οὗτοι γαλακτώδη κατὰ τὴν χρόαν, ὥστ’ εὔδηλον ὅτι λεπτυντικῆς εἰσι δυνάμεως ἄνευ τοῦ θερμαίνειν ἐπιφανῶς.
