[ιζ΄. Περὶ ὀστρακίτου.] Τὸν δὲ ὀστρακίτην ὀνομαζόμενον λίθον ἐπαινούντων ἀκούω τινῶν ὡς ξηραντικὴν ἱκανῶς ἔχοντα δύναμιν ἐκ στύψεώς τε καὶ δριμύτητος ἐπιμεμιγμένην, ὥσπερ γε καὶ τὸν γεώδη καλούμενον ἀποκαθαίρειν τε τὰς κόρας καὶ τιτθῶν καὶ ὄρχεων ἰᾶσθαι φλεγμονὰς, ἐνιέμενοι ὕδατι. τό γε μὴν τῆς Ναξίας ἀκόνης ἀπότριμμα καὶ τιτθοὺς παρθένων κωλύει πρὸς ὥρας ἐμφυσᾶσθαι καὶ παίδων ὄρχεις, ὡς μετέχον δηλονότι καὶ καὶ ψυκτικῆς δυνάμεως.
