[ιδ΄. Περὶ κονίας τῆς ἐκ τῆς τέφρας.] Κονία. τῆς τέφρας πλυθείσης ἡ κονία γίνεται, τέφραν δὲ τὸ ὑπόλειμμα τῶν κεκαυμένων σωμάτων ὀνομάζουσιν οἱ Ἕλληνες, ἐάν τε λιθώδη τὴν φύσιν, ἐάν τε δένδρων ἢ ζώων ᾖ μόρια. κατὰ τὴν φύσιν οὖν τοῦ πλυνομένου καὶ ἡ κονία γίνεται, τοῦ μὲν ἐμπύρευμα δριμύτατον ἔχοντος δριμυτάτη, τοῦ δὲ μὴ τοιούτου μετριωτέρα, διὸ καὶ ταῖς σηπταῖς λεγομέναις δυνάμεσι μίγνυται καυστικὴν ἔχουσα θερμότητα, τῷ λεπτομερεῖ τῆς οὐσίας ἀνωδύνως κάουσα.
