[ιθ΄. Περὶ μελαντηρίας.] Μελαντηρία τῶν στυφόντων ἱκανῶς ἐστι φαρμάκων, μετὰ τοῦ καὶ λεπτομερὴς εἶναι σχεδὸν ἁπάντων τῶν στυφόντων μάλιστα. [κ΄. Περὶ μέλανος γραφικοῦ.] Μέλαν ᾧ γράφομεν, ἱκανῶς καὶ τοῦτο ξηραίνει λυόμενον ὕδατι. καὶ τὰ πυρίκαυτα δὲ τῶν ἑλκῶν παραχρῆμα καταχριόμενον ὀνίνησιν. εἰ δὲ καὶ ὄξους ἔχει, πολὺ μᾶλλον.
