κυνῶν δὲ καὶ ἀλωπέκων σαρκὸς ἐγὼ μὲν οὐδ᾿ ἐγευσάμην ποτὲ διὰ τὸ μὴ εἰθίσθαι τὴν ἐδωδὴν αὐτῶν μήτ᾿ ἐπὶ τῆς <Ἀσίας μήτ᾿ ἐπὶ τῆς> Ἑλλάδος, ἀλλά μηδὲ κατὰ τὴν Ἰταλίαν· ἀκούω δὲ καὶ ταῦτα πολλαχόθι ἐσθίεσθαι καὶ τεκμαίρομαι παραπλησίαν εἷναί τὴν δύναμιν αὐτῶν τῇ τῶν λαγωῶν· ἔστι γὰρ ὁμοίως ξηρὰ καὶ λαγὼς καὶ κύων καὶ ἀλώπηξ.
