Τῶν δ’ ἐν ὄξει καὶ ἅλμῃ δυναμένων ἀποτίθεσθαι τοσοῦτον ὑπηλλάχθαι χρὴ νομίζειν τὴν ἀρχαίαν δύναμιν ὅσον ἐκ τῆς σκευασίας ἠλλοιώθησαν· ὅτι δ’ ὄξος καὶ ἅλμη τῶν τεμνόντων καὶ λεπτυνόντων, οὐδεὶς ἀγνοεῖ.
