Ἢν πυρετὸς λάβῃ, παλαιῆς κόπρου ὑπεούσης ἢ νεοβρῶτι ἐόντι, ἤν τε σὺν ὀδύνῃ πλευροῦ, ἤν τε μή· ἡσυχίην ἄγειν, μέχρις οὗ καταβῇ τὰ σιτία πρῶτον ἐς τὴν κάτω κοιλίην. Καὶ διὰ τῶν τοιούτων ῥήσεων ἔνδειξις γίνεται τοῦ τὰ προσκείμενα τῷ περὶ διαίτης ὀξέων οὐκ εἶναι τοῦ Ἱπποκράτους αὐτοῦ συγγράμματα· οὐκ ἔδει γὰρ τὰ τελεώτατα διεληλυθὼς ἐν τῷ γνησίῳ μέρει τοῦ βιβλίου γεγραμμένα περὶ τῶν πλευριτικῶν ἐνταῦθα πάλιν ὀλίγα παραθεῖναι.
