Ὁ δὲ ἰσημερινὸς κύκλος καθ’ ὅλην τὴν οἰκουμένην διχοτομεῖται ὑπὸ τοῦ ὁρίζοντος, ὥςτε ἡμικύκλιον μὲν ὑπὲρ γῆν ἀπολαμβάνεσθαι, ἡμικύκλιον δὲ ὑπὸ γῆν. δι’ ἣν αἰτίαν ἐπὶ τοῦ κύκλου τούτου αἱ ἰσημερίαι γίνονται.
