Βοῦς ἐπὶ γλώσσης: ἐπὶ τῶν δωροδοκουμένων· διὰ τὸ τῶν Ἀθηναίων νόμισμα βοῦν ἔχειν. Γόνυ κνήμης ἔγγιον: ἐπὶ τῶν ἑαυτοὺς μᾶλλον ἑτέρων ἀγαπώντων. Γέροντα δ’ ὀρθοῦν φλαῦρον, ὃς νέος πέσῃ Γλυκεῖ’ ὀπώρα φύλακος ἐκλελοιπότος: ἐπὶ τῶν ἄνευ μόχθου τὰ ἀλλότρια καρπουμένων. Γραῦς βακχεύει: ἐπὶ τῶν παρ’ ὥραν τι διαπραττομένων. Γραῶν ὕθλοι.
