ΚΛΗΤΗΡΕΣ καὶ ΚΛΗΤΕΥΕΙΝ· κλητῆρες μὲν οἱ ἄνδρες δι’ ὧν εἰς τὰς δίκας προσκαλοῦνται οἱ δικαζόμενοί τισιν· ἔδει γὰρ παρεῖναί τινας ὥσπερ μάρτυρας τῆς προσκλήσεως· Ἰσαῖος ἐν τῷ πρὸς Νεοκλέα περὶ χωρίου. πολὺ δ’ ἐστὶν ὅλως τοὔνομα παρά τε τοῖς ῥήτορσι καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀρχαίᾳ κωμῳδίᾳ. ΚΛΗΤΕΥΣΑΙ δ’ ἐστὶ τὸ κλητῆρα γενέσθαι, ὡς Ἰσαῖος ἐν τῷ κατὰ Κλεομέδοντος. λέγεται δὲ κλητεύεσθαι καὶ ἐκκλητεύεσθαι ἐπὶ τῶν μαρτύρων, ὅταν μὴ ὑπακούωσι πρὸς τὴν μαρτυρίαν ἐν τοῖς δικαστηρίοις, καὶ ἔστιν ἐπιτίμιον κατ’ αὐτῶν δραχμαὶ χίλιαι, ὡς Ἰσαῖος ἐν τῷ ὑπὲρ Πύθωνος ἀποστασίου.
