Δημοσθένης Φιλιππικοῖς φησὶν ἐπεὶ ὅτι γε ὥσπερ περίοδος ἢ καταβολὴ πυρετοῦ. περιοδικὰ νοσήματα καλοῦσιν οἱ ἰατροῖ τὰ τεταγμένως ἀνιέμενα καὶ αὖθις ἐπιτεινόμενα, οἷον τριταίους καὶ τεταρταίους· καὶ γὰρ ἐπὶ τούτων οἱ κάμνοντες δοκοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς τῶν ἀνέσεων ἡμέραις μηδὲν νοσεῖν, ἀλλ’ ὑγιεῖς εἶναι. Ἰσαῖος ἐν τῷ πρὸς Μενεκράτην καὶ τὸ περιοίκιον καὶ τὴν οἰκίαν. μήποτε ὃ ἡμεῖς λέγομεν ἐποίκιον.
