ἐκληροῦντο ὑπὸ τῶν πρυτάνεων καθ’ ἑκάστην ἐκκλησίαν, εἷς ἐξ ἑκάστης φυλῆς πλὴν τῆς πρυτανευούσης, οἵτινες τὰ περὶ τὰς ἐκκλησίας διῴκουν. ἐκαλοῦντο δὲ πρόεδροι, ἐπειδήπερ προήδρευον τῶν ἄλλων ἁπάντων. πολλάκις δ’ ἐστὶ τοὔνομα παρὰ τοῖς ῥήτορσιν, ὡς καὶ παρὰ Δημοσθένει ἐν τῷ κατ’ Ἀνδροτίωνος καὶ Αἰσχίνῃ ἐν τῷ κατὰ Κτησιφῶντος. ὅτι δ’ ὁ καλούμενος ἐπιστάτης κληροῖ αὐτοὺς εἴρηκεν Ἀριστοτέλης ἐν Ἀθηναίων πολιτείᾳ.
