Δανάκης, νομίσματός ἐστιν ὄνομα βαρβαρικὸν, πλέον ὀβολοῦ, ὃ τοῖς νεκροῖς ἐν τοῖς στόμασιν ἐτίθεσαν (Sequitur fragm. Callimachi IIO)· εἴρηται δὲ δανάκης, ὁ τοῖς δαναοῖς ἐμβαλλόμενος· δαναοὶ γὰρ οἱ νεκροί· τουτέστιν ξηροί, δανὰ γὰρ τὰ ξηρά. Ἡρακλείδης ἐν τῷ δευτέρῳ τῶν Περσικῶν.
