Τῶν μέτρων ἐστὶν εἴδη τρία, εὐθυμετρικόν, ἐπίπεδον, στερεόν. εὐθυμετρικὸν μὲν οὖν ἐστι πᾶν τὸ κατὰ μῆκος μετρούμενον, ἐπίπεδον δὲ τὸ ἐν μήκει καὶ πλάτει μετρούμενον, στερεὸν δὲ αὐτὸ τὸ συνάγον τὴν τῶν ποδῶν συναγωγήν.
