Σχεδίαν μετρήσωμεν οὕτως· ἔστω τὸ σύναρμα πηχῶν ῑ, τὸ δὲ πλάτος πηχῶν κ, τὸ δὲ μῆκος πηχῶν μ. ποίησον οὕτως· τὸ σύναρμα ἐπὶ τὸ πλάτος· γίνονται πήχεις σ· τούτους ἐπὶ τὸ μῆκος· γίνονται πήχεις η.
