Ἔστω τμῆμα καὶ ἐχέτω τὴν μὲν βάσιν ποδῶν κδ, τὴν δὲ κάθετον ποδῶν ῑϛ, ὅ ἐστι μεῖζον ἡμικυκλίου. ποίει οὕτως· σύνθες βάσιν καὶ κάθετον· γίνονται πόδες μ· ταῦτα ἐπὶ τοὺς ῑϛ τῆς καθέτου· γίνονται ἑκκαιδεκάκις μ χμ· ὧν τὸ U+2220΄· γίνονται τκ· πρόσθες αὐτοῖς καὶ τὸ κα΄· γίνονται ῑε ϛ΄ ιδ΄· ὁμοῦ γίνονται πόδες τλε ϛ΄ ιδ΄. τοσούτων ποδῶν ἐστι τὸ ἐμβαδόν.
