Φρέαρ μετρήσωμεν οὕτως, οὗ τὸ βάθος ποδῶν κ, τὸ δὲ διάμετρον τοῦ κενώματος ποδῶν δ, τὸ δὲ πάχος ποδὸς α· δίπλωσον τὸ πάχος· γίνονται πόδες β· πρόσθες τούτους ἐπὶ τοὺς τοῦ κενώματος· γίνονται ϛ· πολυπλασίασον· γίνονται λϛ· ἐξ αὐτῶν ὕφελε τὸ δ΄· λοιπὸν μένουσιν κζ. πολυπλασίασον τοὺς τοῦ κενώματος τοὺς δ ἐπὶ τοὺς δ· γίνονται πόδες ιϛ· ἐξ αὐτῶν ὕφελε τὸ δ΄· μένουσι πόδες ιβ. πάλιν τοὺς αὐτοὺς ὕφελε ἀπὸ τῶν κζ· μένουσι ιε· πολυπλασίἀσον τοὺς ιε πόδας ἐπὶ τὸ βάθος, τουτέστιν ἐπὶ τοὺς κ· γίνονται πόδες τ. τοσούτων ποδῶν εὑρήσεις τὸ φρέαρ.
