Μέτρησις κώνου κολούρου, οὗ ἡ διάμετρος ἡ κάτω ποδῶν ῑθ, ἡ δὲ ἄνω ποδῶν ε, ὕψος ποδῶν ζ· εὑρεῖν τὴν ἐπιφάνειαν. ζητῶ πρῶτον τὰ κλίματα, ὧν ἄνευ ἐπιφάνειαν οὐ δυνατόν. ἀπὸ τῆς μείζονος διαμέτρου ἀφαιρῶ τὴν ἐλάσσονα· καὶ λαμβάνομεν τὸ U+2220΄· γίνονται ζ, ὅπερ ὀρθογωνίου τριγώνου, οὗ ἡ κάθετος ποδῶν ζ, βάσις ἐστίν· ὥστε ποδῶν θ δ΄ η΄ ἡ ὑποτείνουσα, ὃ δὴ κλίμα ἐστίν. καὶ συντίθημι ἑκάστοτε τὰς δύο διαμέτρους· γίνονται κδ· ταῦτα ἐπὶ τὸ κλίμα, ὡς γίνεσθαι σκε· ταῦτα ἑνδεκάκις· τούτων μέρος ζ΄· γίνονται πόδες τνγ U+2220΄ ιδ΄. τοσούτου ἔσται ἣ ἐπιφάνεια.
