# Geodaesia [Sp.] 9.17-18

Δύο τρίγωνα ὀρθογώνια ἡνωμένα, ὧν αἱ βάσεις σχοινίων ῑ καὶ αἱ ὑποτείνουσαι ἀνὰ σχοινίων ιγ, ἡ δὲ πρὸς ὀρθὰς κοινὴ οὖσα τῶν δύο τριγώνων σχοινίων ιβ· εὑρεῖν δὲ αὐτῶν τὸ ἐμβαδόν. ποίει οὕτως· τὰ ῑ τῆς βάσεως ἐπὶ τὰ ιβ τῆς πρὸς ὀρθάς· γίνονται ρκ· ὧν τὸ U+2220ʹ ξ· τοσούτων σχοινίων ἐστὶ τὸ ἐμβαδόν. ὧν τὸ U+2220ʹ λ· καὶ ἔστι γῆς μοδίων λ. εἰ δὲ θέλεις ἀπὸ τῆς βάσεως τὴν κάθετον εὑρεῖν, ποίει οὕτως· τῶν ῑ τῆς βάσεως τὰ U+2220΄· γίνονται ε· ταῦτα ἐφʼ ἑαυτὰ κε. καὶ τὰ ιγ τῆς ὑποτεινούσης ἐφʼ ἑαυτὰ ρξθ. ἐξ ὧν λαβὲ τὰ κε· λοιπὰ ρμδ· ὧν πλευρὰ τετράγωνος ιβ· τοσούτων σχοινίων ἔσται ἡ κάθετος.
