Ἔστω πυραμὶς βάσιν ἔχουσα τετράγωνον καὶ ἐχέτω ἑκάστην πλευρὰν ἀνὰ πόδας ι΄· ἡ δὲ πυραμὶς ἐχέτω τὰς πλευρὰς ἀνακεκλιμένας ἀπὸ ποδῶν ιγ΄ Ϲ· εὑρεῖν τῆς πυραμίδος τὴν κάθετον καὶ τὸ στερεόν· ποιῶ οὕτως· πολυπλασιάζω τοῦ τετραγώνου τὴν πλευρὰν ἐφ᾿ ἑαυτήν· γίνονται ρ΄· τούτων τὸ ἥμισυ γίνονται ν΄· καὶ τὰ ιγ΄ Ϲ ἐφ᾿ ἑαυτὰ γίνονται πόδες ρπβ΄ δ˝· αἴρω ἀπὸ τούτων τὰ ν΄· λοιπὸν μένουσι πόδες ρλβ΄ δ˝· ὧν πλευρὰ τετραγωνικὴ γίνεται πόδες ια΄ Ϲ. τὸ δὲ στερεὸν εὑρίσκεται οὕτως· τοῦ τετραγώνου τὸ ἐμβαδὸν2 γίνεται πόδες ρ΄· ταῦτα πολυπλασιάζω ἐπὶ τὸ γ˝ μέρος τῆς καθέτου· γίνονται πόδες τπγ΄ γ˝· τοσούτων ποδῶν ἐστι τὸ στερεὸν τῆς πυραμίδος.
