Πεντάγωνον μετρήσομεν οὕτως, οὗ ἑκάστη πλευρὰ ποδῶν ι΄· εὑρεῖν αὐτοῦ τὸ ἐμβαδόν· ποιῶ οὕτως· τὰ ι΄ ἐφ᾿ ἑαυτὰ γίνονται ρ΄· ταῦτα ποιῶ πεντάκις· γίνονται φ΄· ὧν 2γ˝ γίνονται ρξϚ΄ β˝· ἔσται τὸ ἐμβαδὸν ρξϚ΄ β˝. εὑρεῖν δὲ καὶ τοῦ περιγραφομένου κύκλου τὴν διάμετρον· τὰ ι΄ τῆς πλευρᾶς ἑπτακαιδεκάκις γίνονται ρο΄· ταῦτα μερίζω ἐπὶ ι˝· γίνονται ιζ΄· ἔσται ἡ διάμετρος τοῦ περιγραφομένου κύκλου ποδῶν ιζ΄.
