Ἔστι δὲ καὶ ἑτέρα μέθοδος ἐπὶ τῶν κεραμίδων· ἐὰν ᾖ οἶκος ἔχων τὸ μῆκος ποδῶν ξ΄, τὸ δὲ πλάτος ποδῶν λ΄, ἄφελε διὰ παντὸς τὸ γ˝ μέρος τῶν ξ΄· λοιπὸν μ΄· καὶ ἔτι ὁμοίως ἀπὸ τοῦ πλάτους, ἀπὸ τῶν λ΄, τὸ τρίτον· λοιπὸν κ΄· καὶ πολυπλασίασον τὰ μ΄ ἐπὶ τὰ κ΄· γίνονται ω΄· τοσαῦται κεραμίδες ἀναβήσονται ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον. Εὕρηται καὶ ταῦτα τῇ μεθόδῳ· αὕτη μία τῶν πλευρῶν τῆς δυρρύτου στέγης οὖσα ἔχει κεραμίδας ξ΄, ἡ δὲ ἑτέρα καὶ ἴση αὐτῇ οὖσα χωρήσει τὶς λοιπὰς ξ΄· τοῦτο δὲ καὶ ἐπὶ τοῦ κατωτέρω προβλήματος· ἡ μὲν μία τῶν πλευρῶν τῆς στέγης ὑπογέγραπται υ΄ αἱροῦσα κεραμίδας, ἡ δὲ ἑτέρα καὶ ἀπεναντίον νοουμένη τὰς λοιπὰς υ΄ εἰς ἀναπλύρωσιν τῶν ω΄ λήψεται.
