τὸ ἔξωθεν μετρήσωμεν τετράγωνον τὸ προσεκβεβλημένον, τουτέστι τὰ δ ἐπὶ τὰ ε· γίνονται κ· ταῦτα πάλιν ἐπὶ τὸ βάθος πολυπλασίασον, ἐπὶ τὰ γ· γίνονται ξ. ταῦτα προσθήσομεν τοῖς ωμ· γίνονται Ϡ· καὶ τοσούτων ποδῶν ἔσται τοῦ σχήματος τὸ ἐμβαδὸν σὺν τῇ ψαλίδι. ἐὰν δὲ μείζων ἡμικυκλίου, λαβὲ τῆς ψαλίδος τὸ καʹ μέρος, οἷον ἂν τὸ σχῆμα, καὶ προστίθει πρὸς τὸ ὅλον ἐμβαδόν· καὶ τοσούτων ποδῶν ἔσται τὸ σχῆμα. ἐὰν δὲ ᾖ μείων ἡμικυκλίου ἄν τε ἡμικύκλιον, ὁμοίως μετρήσωμεν· καὶ ἐὰν δύο ᾖ τετράγωνα προσεκβεβλημένα, ὡσαύτως μετρήσωμεν, ὡς προγέγραπται.
