τερπνὸν καὶ ποθεινὸν τῷ δήμῳ θέαμα. ἔστη γὰρ οὕτω τὸ δεινόν, καὶ ἑκάτεροι πολεμοῦντες ἐπαύσαντο, οἱ μὲν στρατιῶται ἀνῃρημένον ἰδόντες ὑπὲρ οὗ ἐμάχοντο, δέει τε τῆς τοῦ βασιλέως ὀργῆς ʽσυνίεσαν γὰρ ἐξηπατῆσθαι καὶ τὰ δρασθέντα παρὰ γνώμην αὐτοῦ τετολμηκέναἰ: ὁ δὲ δῆμος κεκόρεστο τιμωρίαν
