φθάσας ἢ παθεῖν ἀναμείνας ἠθέλησεν. ἔτι τε αὐτὸν καὶ πολλὰ ἦν τὰ πρὸς βασιλείας ἐπιθυμίαν ἀναπείθοντα, πλούτου τε περιβολὴ ἣ μὴ πρότερόν τινι ἰδιωτεύοντι ἐγένετο, στρατιωτῶν τε θεραπεῖαι, τιμαί τε αἱ παρὰ τῶν ἀρχομένων, σχῆμά τε ᾧ προῄει: ἠμφίεστο γὰρ τήν τε πλατύσημον ἐσθῆτα, ἔν τε τοῖς δεύτερον ὑπατεύσασιν ἐτέτακτο, παρῃώρητό τε αὐτῷ ξίφος, καὶ παντὸς ἀξιώματος σχῆμα ἔφερε μόνος.
