ἐτρέψαντο. οὕτω δὴ προχωρήσαντος τοῦ ἔργου, οἱ νεανίσκοι ἅπαξ ἐν ἀπογνώσει γενόμενοι μόνην ᾔδεσαν ἑαυτοῖς σωτηρίαν ὑπάρχουσαν, εἰ τὰ τολμηθέντα αὑτοῖς αὐξήσαιεν ἔργοις μείζοσι καὶ κοινωνὸν τοῦ κινδύνου τὸν ἡγούμενον τοῦ ἔθνους παραλάβοιεν, πᾶν τε τὸ ἔθνος ἀναπείσαιεν ἐς ἀπόστασιν: ὅπερ ᾔδεσαν πάλαι μὲν εὔχεσθαι μίσει Μαξιμίνου, φόβῳ δὲ
