Μὴ ἐγκαταλείπῃς με κύριε ὁ θεός μου, μὴ ἀποστῇς ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ. Ταῦτα οὐχ ὑπὲρ ἑαυτοῦ ἀλλ’ ὑπὲρ τῆς ἐκκλησίας ἐφθέγξατο. ὑπὲρ ἑαυτοῦ δὲ μᾶλλον· ἓν γὰρ πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡ ἐκκλησία ὡσπὲρ νύμφη πρὸς νυμφίον γνωρίζεται, καὶ τοῦτο ἐκ τῶν ἑξῆς εἰσόμεθα.
