33. Ὅσοι δὲ ὑπὸ καύσου ἀποθνήσκουσι, πάντες ὑπὸ ξηρασίης ἀποθνήσκουσιν, ἀποξηραίνεται δὲ πρῶτον μὲν αὐτῶν τὰ ἀκρωτήρια, πόδες τε καὶ χεῖρες, ἔπειτα δὲ τὰ ἐπιξηρότερα· ὅκοταν δὲ ἐκκαυθῇ καὶ ἀποξηρανθῇ παντάπασι τὸ ὑγρὸν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος, τὸ μὲν αἷμα πήγνυταί τε παντελῶς καὶ ψύχεται, τὸ δὲ ἄλλο σῶμα ἀποξηραίνεται, καὶ οὕτως ἀποθνήσκει.
