Ταῦτα μὲν οὖν ἐκ πολλῶν ὡς ὀλίγα παρεθέμεθα· ἔστι γὰρ ἀναρίθμητα <τὰ> τῆς μωρίας ἐπιχειρήματα ὄντα φλύαρα καὶ ἀλλ’ ἐπειδὴ δυνάμει τὴν ἄγνωστον αὐτῶν γνῶσιν ἐξεθέμεθα, καὶ τοῦτο ἔδοξε παραθεῖναι· ψαλμὸς αὐτοῖς ἐσχεδίασται οὑτος, δι᾿ οὗ πάντα αὑτοῖς τὰ τῆς πλάνης μυστήρια δοκοῦσιν ὑμνῳδεῖν οὕτως·
