ἐπὶ δὲ τῶν μονάδων πυθμὴν αὐταί εἰσιν αἱ μονάδες. οἷον τοῦ ἐννέα ὁ ἐννέα, τοῦ ὀκτὼ ὁ ὀκτώ, τοῦ ἑπτά ὁ ἑτπά. οὕτως οὖν καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν στοιχείων ποιεῖν δεῖ· ἕκαστον γὰρ στοιχεῖον κατὰ τινα τέτακται ἀριθμόν, οἷον τὸ ݲ ἐστὶ μονάδων ݲ τῶν πεντήκοντα μονάδων πυθμήν ἐστιν ὁ πέντε, καὶ τοῦ ݲ στοιχείου πυθμήν ἐστιν ὁ πέντε.
