Οὗτος ὁ Σεβῆρος τὸ μὲν γένος ἦν Λίβυς, ἐς δὲ πραγμάτων διοίκησιν γενναῖος ἅμα καὶ θυμοειδὴς, σκληρῷ τε βίῳ καὶ τραχεῖ ἐνειθισμένος, πόνους τε ἀνέχων ῥᾷστα, νοῆσαί τε ταχὺς καὶ τὸ νοηθὲν ἐπιτελέσαι ὀξύς.
