Ἐννόησον τί πάσχειν εἰκὸς ἦν τὸν Ἡρώδην ὑπὸ δεσμώτου ἐλεγχόμενον καὶ ὁρῶντα οὐδὲ ἀπὸ τῆς ἁλύσεως ἐνδιδόντα τῇ παρρησίᾳ, ἀλλ' αἱρούμενον σφαγῆναι μᾶλλον ἢ προέσθαι τὴν καλλίστην ἐλευθεροστομίαν ἐκείνην.
