Καὶ ὁ Τρύφων· Ἀποδείκνυε· καὶ γάρ. ὡς ὁρᾷς, ἣ τε ἡμέρα προκόπτει, καὶ ἡμεῖς πρὸς τὰς οὕτως ἐπικινδύνους ἀποκρίσεις οὐκ ἐσμὲν ἕτοιμοι, ἐπειδὴ οὐδενὸς οὐδέποτε ταῦτα ἐρευνῶντος ἢ ζητοῦντος ἢ ἀποδεικνύντος ἀκηκόαμεν. Καὶ σοῦ λέγοντος οὐκ ἠνειχόμεθα, εἰ μὴ πάντα ἐπὶ τὰς γραφάς ἀνῆγες· ἐξ αὐτῶν γὰρ τὰς ἀποδείξεις ποιεῖσθαι σπουδάζεις, καὶ μηδένα ὑπὲρ τὸν ποιητὴν τῶν ὅλων εἶναι θεὸν ἀποφαίνῃ.
