Ἃ γὰρ ἂν διαρρήδην ἐν ταῖς γραφαῖς φαίνονται ἐλέγχοντα αὐτῶν τὴν ἀνόητον καὶ φίλαυτον γνώμην, ταῦτα τολμῶσι λέγειν μὴ οὕτω γεγράφθαι· ἃ δ᾿ ἂν καὶ ἕλκειν πρὸς ἃς νομίζουσι δύνασθαι ἁρμόζειν πράξεις ἀνθρωπείους, ταῦτα οὐκ εἰς τοῦτον τὸν ἡμέτερον Ἰησοῦν Χριστὸν εἰρῆσθαι λέγουσιν, ἀλλ᾿ εἰς ὃν αὐτοὶ ἐξηγεῖσθαι ἐπιχειροῦσιν. Ὁποῖον καὶ τὴν γραφὴν ταύτην, περὶ ἧς ἡ νῦν ὁμιλία ἐστίν, ἐδίδαξαν ὑμᾶς λέγοντες εἰς Ἐζεκίαν αὐτὴν εἰρῆσθαι, ὅπερ, ὡς ὑπεσχόμην, ἀποδείξω ψεύδεσθαι αὐτούς.
