ὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ Θρασύβουλος τοὺς τῶν ἀσταχύων ὑπερέχοντας ἐξέκοπτεν, οὕτως ἡ Τύχη τῶν ὁμιλητῶν τοὺς ἀρίστους ἥρπασεν, ἀρξαμένη μὲν ἀπὸ τῶν ἐν Βιθυνίᾳ διατριβῶν, προελθοῦσα δὲ εἰς τόδε, ἀεὶ φειδομένη μὲν οἱ οὐκ ἂν ἐξέλαμψαν, τοὺς δὲ ἤδη τε ἐν δόξῃ καὶ αὖ τοὺς ἐσομένους ἀφῄ- ρει.
