Πῶς οὖν ὁρᾷ νοῦς; καὶ πῶς ἀκούει; Ὀρθῇ τῇ ψυχῇ καὶ ἐρρωμένῃ, πρὸς τὸ ἀκήρατον ἐκεῖνο φῶς ἀντιβλέπων, καὶ μὴ σκοτοδινιῶν, μηδὲ εἰς γῆν καταφερόμενος· ἀλλὰ ἀποφράττων μὲν καὶ τὰ ὦτα, ἀποστρέφων δὲ τὰς ὄψεις καὶ τὰς ἄλλας αἰσθήσεις ἔμπαλιν πρὸς ἑαυτόν·
