Δύο γὰρ ὄντων τούτων, ὑφʼ ὧν Ὅμηρος καὶ Ησίοδος καὶ ὅστις ἄλλος ἐν ἁρμονίᾳ ποιητικῇ εὐδόκιμοι ἦσαν, χρείας καὶ ἡδονῆς, κατʼ οὐδέτερον αὐτοῖν ἐπιτήδεια τὰ ἔπη τῇ Πλάτωνος πολιτείᾳ, οὔτε κατὰ τὴν χρείαν, οὔτε κατὰ τὴν ἡδονήν.
