Τῷ οὖν διακρινοῦμεν τὸν κόλακα τοῦ φίλου; μήτε τῷ τέλει, μήτε ἡδονῇ, μήτε βλάβῃ· φέρε χωρὶς ἑκάτερον θεασώμεθα. Ἆρά γε ὁ πρὸς ἡδονὴν ὁμιλῶν φίλος; καὶ πάνυ εἰκός· καὶ μὴν εἰ ἐχθρὸς ὁ λύπης παρασκευαστικός, φίλος ἂν εἴη ὁ ἡδονῆς παρασκευαστι‖κώτατος.
