3. Ἀλλὰ γὰρ ὡς ἐν πολέμῳ τινὶ χρώμενος ὅπλῳ τῷ λόγῳ πρὸς τὴν κακίαν καὶ σκοπῶν τὸ καλὸν καὶ προβαλλόμενος διατέλει ὑπάρχων τὸ μὲν ἦθος εὐσταθής, τὴν δὲ γνώμην εὐσθενής, τὸν δὲ λόγον ἐμβριθής, τὴν δὲ πρᾶξιν εὐπρεπής· καὶ τὴν μὲν ὄψιν σεμνός, τὴν δὲ ὁμιλίαν ἤπιος, τὸν δὲ τρόπον ἥμερος· εὐγνώμων δὲ τὴν διάνοιαν, τὸν δὲ βίον χρηστός· μὴ θρασὺς καὶ ὀργίλος, ἀλλὰ θαρσαλέος καὶ πρᾷος.
