Νυμφόδωρος δὲ καὶ τὸν θώρακα αἰγίδα λέγεσθαί φησιν ὑπὸ Λακώνων. Αἰγίδας ἐκάλουν τὰ ἐκ τῶν στεμμάτων δίκτυα· Λυκοῦργος ἐν τῷ περὶ διοικήσεως καὶ Νυμφόδωρος. Ἡρόδοτος δ ̓ ἐν δ' ταύτας φησὶν ὑπὸ Λιβύων αἴγεας καλεῖσθαι.
