Οὔτ’ ἂν ἐγὼ γράψαιμι πρὸς Στησίχορον περὶ ὧν ἀξιοῖς, οὔτ’ ἂν ἐκεῖνος ἐπινεύσειεν εἴς τινα τῶν οὐκέτι ζώντων ἐξενεγκεῖν μέλος, εἰ καὶ γράψαιμεν ἡμεῖς. ἀπόχρη δέ μοι χάριν εἰληφέναι παρ’ αὐτοῦ τὴν ἐπὶ τῇ Νικοκλέους γυναικὶ ποίησιν. εἰ δέ τι βούλει παρ’ ἡμῶν αἰτεῖν, οὗτινος ἡ ἐξουσία οὐκ ἐπ’ ἀλλοτρίαν ἀλλ’ ἐπὶ τὴν ἐμὴν ἄνεισι γνώμην, ἐπίστελλε.
