Φερεκύδης φησὶ Μέδουσαν εἶναι τὴν Πολύβου γυναῖκα, θυγατέρα δὲ Ὀρσιλόχου τοῦ ἀδελφειοῦ. Πολυφήτην δὲ τὸν κήρυκα τοῦτον Φερεκύδης Πολυποίτην φησί.
