τῶν δ’ ἕνεκα δέους ἐπιδιδόντων ἔπαινος οὐδείς· ὁ γὰρ ἔπαινος ἐν ἑκουσίοις κατορθώμασι γράφεται, τὰ δ’ ἀβούλητα ἑτέροις ἀνάκειται πράγμασιν, ἢ καιροῖς ἢ τύχαις ἢ ταῖς ἀπ’ ἀνθρώπων ἀνάγκαις.
